Reporting to the CEO, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the company's finance function as well as managing two direct reports. The incumbent will develop a strong control environment for the accurate and timely production of management information for the board, whilst facilitating data-led decision-making across all levels of the business. This role is based at our head office in Crawley with the opportunity for hybrid working and is open to both fixed-term and permanent placement.

Job Description

Principal Accountabilities Prepare and submit financial statements (IFRS) and partner with external consultant to prepare and submit high-value R&D tax claim. Prepare monthly management accounts/board reporting. Provide day-to-day support to operation and commercial teams. Oversee two direct reports and take charge of their development. Drive finance process and control enhancements. Cashflow management. Develop publication of a KPI dashboard. Involvement in budgeting and forecasting activities. Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis. Ensure timely processing of payroll, supplier payments, and day-to-day accounting. Person Specification

Comfortable as part of a small but growing team, building a first-class finance function. Flexible, proactive hands-on approach. Confident liaising with auditors and owning statutory compliance. Experience to support the development of processes and systems which will enable the business to grow in a structured manner. Confident in taking ownership of the role, working autonomously. Commercial aptitude. Qualifications

Qualified accountant. Understanding of IFRS accounting and standards. Agile and ambitious (wants to grow with a fast-moving start-up). Exposure to a previous VC backed business would be an advantage. Experience in project accounting and grant claims would be an advantage. Strong organisational and analytical skills. Detail-oriented. Additional Information
