Dumfries Permanent Hybrid / Flexible Working Available £50,000 - £65,000, Plus Bonus & Benefits Our Client, a successful family-run business based in Dumfries, Scotland, is a well-known and respected mechanical engineering business offering design, fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance services. We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join the team, based in Dumfries, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded accountant with a solid understanding of the financial controls and processes essential for a manufacturing company. Key Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

Strategic Financial Management

Develop and prepare annual budgets and operational overheads. Provide strategic long-term planning support to the MD to align with financial goals and objectives. Financial Management & Reporting

Oversee the company's day-to-day finances, including cash flow, debtors, creditors, overhead, and profit margin/EBITDA optimisation. Prepare monthly management accounts and draft profit and loss reports to submit to the group finance department. Commercial Business Support

Assist in evaluating business opportunities, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations. Confidential Administrative Support

Directly assist the MD with sensitive business matters, including correspondence, document preparation, and decision-making processes. Team Leadership & Development

Manage, mentor, and develop the accounts finance team, ensuring high performance and growth. Key skills and background required for the Financial Controller position:

Accounting qualification - ideally ACA, ACCA, or CIMA- with previous experience in a finance manager/controller capacity. Proven experience working in an entrepreneurial business or one that has experienced rapid growth, testing financial structures. Technically strong accounting skills. Experience working with ERP systems. Advanced MS Excel skills. Personable and confident. Ability to self-motivate. Methodical and organised. Ability to work with high accuracy and a keen eye for detail. Able to work to regular deadlines and timetables. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, family-run business.
