The Role

We are looking for a qualified Financial Controller to join our fantastic team. Reporting to the CFOO, this person will lead the Company’s financial accounting, reporting and control activities, ensuring the group’s finance function is organised, efficient and in line with best practices, producing accurate financial and management information.

Key Responsibilities

Leading and developing a Finance function that provides consolidated financial information to the Board and Management Team on a timely basis.

Ensuring appropriate financial systems and internal controls are maintained across the UK and US, providing consistent financial information.

Ensuring appropriate accounting policies are in place which are compliant with accounting standards – this includes ensuring non-trading activities are clearly identified outside EBITDA.

Overseeing all activities carried out by the financial accounting team including invoicing, purchase ordering, cash management, accounts payable/receivable and maintenance of the financial ledgers and accounting processes for all entities in the group.

Ensuring the deferred revenue, debtors and revenue accruals are accurate and understood by senior management – providing focus as required on working capital regarding these balances.

Ensuring Management Accounts are produced, which include Balance Sheet, EBITDA, Cash flow and key metrics.

Ensuring Balance Sheet reconciliations are prepared and reviewed monthly.

Responsibility for the production and monitoring of a weekly direct cash flow for the Group – this should differentiate across currencies and provide working capital metrics as well as inform FX hedging decisions. This will involve inputs from the US Finance team.

Ensuring financial controls are maintained and relevant for the business – this includes safeguarding cash and assets. A delegation of authority is being compiled, and the implementation of these controls is a key responsibility of the Group Financial Controller.

Review payroll in collaboration with the HR team, ensuring payments are accurate and timely.

Tax compliance for the Group, including liaising with external parties on Corporation Tax and VAT in UK matters under the quarterly self-assessment regulations and Federal/State tax in the US.

Lead the maintenance and development of the General Ledger and Reporting Tools, including training of Finance staff where necessary.

Understand and improve the integration between the General Ledger and the Project Management System (Mavenlink) in collaboration with our Head of Financial Planning & Operations.

Liaise with the External Auditors on the delivery of Statutory Accounts in preparation for submission to the Board.

Line management of Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.

Experience

ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified accountant – with prior experience running a Finance team.

Strong leadership experience, including the ability to coach and motivate other team members.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise and collaborate with other business functions.

Confident and well organised with the ability to deliver to agreed timescales.

Strong systems and process skills with previous experience leading significant system/process changes.

Strong Excel skills and a solid understanding of accounting software and reporting tools.

Previous experience in a PE/VC-backed business is an advantage – or a strong understanding of cash flow and working capital.

Salary

£80,000 - £85,000
