Financial Controller

heads up the day-to-day management of the Finance department (team of 5) in support of the FD, providing reporting and analysis of financial data and contributing towards management decisions. This really is a great role to allow growth and development, as the FD is part-time and thus the role requires a degree of autonomy. It also provides the opportunity to implement changes and improvements to ensure the entire finance function and team are efficient and are delivering accurate, robust timely data that enables the Directors to make fully informed decisions. Key Tasks/ Accountabilities Manage the working capital components of the Group with specific attention to cash flow, debtors and currency management. This will include the production and maintenance of a detailed cashflow forecast extending out 6 months on a week-by-week basis. Maintain accurate accounting records and financial systems ensuring that supporting internal controls are appropriate and robust as the business develops, ensuring integrity and transparency. Monitor and report on performance against budgets and forecasts, with particular attention to Gross Margin analysis, drilling down into product and customer performance. All is to be done in adherence to well-established deadlines. Lead the reporting for the project-based section of the business, ensuring there are weekly updates on the progress of each live project. This is essential to ensure revenue and costs for this section of the business are reported correctly and that the team understand whether each project is running in line with profit expectations. Review month-end balance sheet reconciliation and control accounts. Actively manage overheads, seeking efficiencies and savings where possible. Oversee the monthly processing of payroll and other employee payments. Ensure robust and transparent communication with the FD to ensure they are fully aware of all relevant issues. Act as systems administrator for the company's accounting system, providing training and working with IT to ensure appropriate access is granted to allow the flow of information. Deliver daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly financial performance reports as appropriate, ensuring meaningful relevant data is communicated effectively to the appropriate people within the already well-established timetables. Oversee the submission and payment of all payroll tax returns, ensuring compliance and timeliness. Ensuring the annual audit is conducted efficiently and quickly. Project manage ad hoc projects and tasks. Undertake people management activities such as performance management, disciplinary and grievance processes in collaboration with HR. Support the ongoing development of team members, identifying training needs and arranging training where appropriate. The Successful Applicant CIMA Advanced Diploma completed or part qualified or ACIMA/CGMA AAT qualified Similar level role in a manufacturing SME environment Sound working knowledge of Sage 50 MS Excel Advanced Hard-working, robust and diligent with high energy levels. Up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations Commercial business awareness ACA / ACCA completed or part-qualified Management Qualification System Administrator of Sage 50 Experience / knowledge of Power BI reports ERP / MRP Systems Robust and able to handle the pressure that is inherent in the role Strong organisational skills, ability to meet strict deadlines and reliable Proactive, both as a manager and department leader, ensuring tasks are seen through to completion through the team Positive and upbeat – motivational approach Ability to use own initiative Problem-solving approach with a clear thought process Able to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Extremely effective communicator (through all platforms) – ensuring the FD (remote) is kept updated and appropriate information is shared. Self-motivated and a steady pair of hands Flexible and a team player able to show the highest levels of collaborative working High degree of confidentiality This role is a full-time position, based at our facility in Whetstone, Leicester.
