They are seeking a Financial Controller for a 6–12 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. If you thrive in a hands-on role with a mix of strategic oversight and day-to-day financial management, this could be the perfect fit. Reporting to senior stakeholders, this is a high-impact role requiring strong financial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and adaptability. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation’s financial stability while supporting key operational functions. About the Role As Financial Controller, you will: Lead weekly cashflow management discussions, ensuring financial health and clarity. Oversee revenue recognition and monthly reporting, utilising tools like Xero and Synergist. Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, especially for overseas clients, and actively manage credit control to maintain cashflow. Produce and track financial reports against budgets, working closely with team leads. Develop strong working relationships across the organisation, communicating financial procedures to non-financial stakeholders. Participate in project pipeline meetings, maintaining visibility of ongoing and upcoming projects. Collaborate on financial processes, including implementing flexible payment terms with clients to optimise cashflow. Support the preparation of year-end accounts (May year-end) with external assistance. Provide guidance and oversight for the studio administrator on finance-related tasks. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will have: Significant experience in financial management, preferably in a fast-paced or scale-up environment. Expertise in stakeholder engagement, including senior leadership, project managers, and external clients. Strong communication skills to explain financial processes clearly and build trusted relationships. A proactive and adaptable approach to improving financial systems and workflows. Assertiveness and confidence to establish boundaries and uphold financial procedures with clients and internal teams. Experience with Xero and a willingness to learn Synergist (training provided). Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA) are a plus but not essential. What You’ll Get Competitive salary of £50,000–£60,000. Flexible working: 3 days in-office, with 1 day remote per week.
