Job Introduction
Main Responsibilities
Reporting into the Head of Financial Crime Prevention Risk and Development and forming part of the Financial Crime Prevention Risk and Development leadership team, this position will be responsible for working across Financial Crime Prevention (1LoD) to implement and embed the Financial Crime and Operational risk frameworks, report on the financial crime risk position in key governance committees, and oversee all risk assessment activities, collaborating across the bank to ensure the consistency and delivery of risk management.
Lead, manage and develop the Risk Team within Financial Crime Prevention Risk and Development, including direct line management responsibility and provide support and guidance to team members, enabling a collaborative working environment.
Responsible for embedding a risk culture within Financial Crime Prevention, ensuring Senior Management are aware of the risk and control environment that they have responsibility for.
Govern the risks, including the creation of risk packs for internal stakeholders, chair the Financial Crime Prevention risk forum, and escalate/report and present to the various risk committees, providing oversight of the risk reports written by the risk owners/business personnel responsible.
Work with Financial Crime Prevention Risk and Control owners by providing advice, challenge, and input on key decisions, ensuring Risk and Control owners are aware and accountable and assisting in the development of risk training programmes to increase risk awareness and develop a proactive risk and control culture.
Build relationships with key business stakeholders to support the embedding of the risk management framework and associated reporting, facilitating quick responses to issues, near misses, and emerging risks.
Complete root cause analysis and lessons learned, identifying control weaknesses and escalation, and facilitate the Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) for Financial Crime Prevention, including trigger event reviews such as material risk events and audit findings.
Review and monitor action plans to meet gaps identified from risk management activities, compliance, or audit findings, providing oversight of Financial Crime Prevention issues and actions from identification to closure.
Undertake the annual Business Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA) within Financial Crime Prevention and support the development of MI to inform the BWRA methodology, Financial Crime Compliance Committee, and other key stakeholders as needed.
Ideal Candidate
Extensive experience in risk and control management and methodologies, preferably from within the Financial Services industry.
Experience working in Financial Crime and/or Fraud in either First or Second Line of defence and a good understanding of Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and Payment of Funds Regulations 2017, JMLSG, FCA FCG & FCA SYSC, etc.
Management skills; proven engaging, inclusive management style and strong stakeholder engagement experience.
Analytical skills - able to analyse and interpret key facts across a spectrum of data sources, providing stakeholders with clear and concise recommendations and reports.
Able to communicate clearly and concisely, tailoring content and style, with the ability to make a positive impression on others. Coaching, training, and mentoring experience across diverse teams, capable of effectively managing conflict and change, resolving problems expeditiously, and possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.
Enthusiastic and able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach, including providing support and guidance to other team members.
Self-motivated and driven to learn and develop with the ability to work independently and autonomously.
