Are you an experienced and commercially astute finance professional looking to make a significant impact? Totum is working with a highly successful and ambitious London based law firm in its search for a Finance Director to oversee the firm’s financial operations, drive strategic initiatives, and enhance profitability. Reporting directly to the COO, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of the firm. This position involves close collaboration with the COO, Finance Partner, and Partnership Board to shape and implement financial strategy. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, credit control, and financial reporting. You will ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are met and manage a dedicated finance team. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and improving financial information and management reports, enhancing the credit control function, and maintaining robust financial control systems. Additionally, you will manage partners’ tax reserves and liabilities, lead the annual budget process, and oversee banking facilities to ensure adequate funding. Strategically, you will develop and execute the firm’s financial strategy in alignment with the firm’s objectives. You will provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and business planning, initiate profitability enhancement initiatives, and monitor legal sector trends to anticipate potential impacts on our financial performance. Your role will also involve ensuring capital adequacy and engaging with AI and innovation in finance. Applicants should be qualified accountants with proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably in a law firm although wider professional services environments will also be considered. Demonstrable leadership experience and strong commercial acumen are both required for the role alongside excellent communication skills and a personable, collegiate working style. Seniority level
