Job summary
Working as part of a 2* HQ, responsible to Deliver Capability Hd, you will work within a capability and acquisition department providing portfolio and financial planning and support to Cap Hd and ACOS DEVELOP.
The role will lead on financial governance to support Balance of investment activities as well as assurance and audit, supporting desk officer and supporting the effective delivery of thematically organised projects and programmes throughout the delivery lifecycle.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
This post is responsible to Deliver Capability Hd. Primary duties include:
Provide portfolio and programme financial management support to ACOS Develop, COS Develop, Programme Managers, desk officers, and key stakeholders.
Be responsible for the In Year Management and 10yr Equipment Plan finances of the DEVELOP function, ensuring the timely preparation and supply of monthly financial reports, including explanations, commentaries, and advice to Develop staff.
Assist in the development of new effective financial processes, promoting and facilitating change across the Group.
Scrutinise business cases ensuring the principles of regularity and propriety are applied.
Ad Hoc duties where necessary to support the department.
Person specification
Suitable for candidates with 3+ years of experience working in a Defence project/programme environment.
Experience of Defence capability acquisition.
Experience of managing project and programme finance.
Candidates must be willing to quickly develop an understanding of a highly complex capability development and delivery environment.

Clear communication and excellent organisational skills.
Demonstrable experience of programme/project financial management and related governance/assurance systems.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present data and information clearly to senior and expert/non-expert audiences.
Candidates must be comfortable with uncertainty and change and be able to adapt and overcome challenges on their own initiative.
Desirable:
Experience of working within an Agile environment.
Scheduling experience and International capability acquisition experience.
