YOUMAKEUS As part of our great team here at Daimler Truck, we have an exciting opportunity for a

Financial Reporting Assistant Accountant

to join us on a temporary basis for around 12 months. This role is perfect if you’re looking to be responsible for Financial Accounting and Controlling tasks, ensuring full coverage of critical daily and monthly tasks that include: preparation of financial statements for monthly reporting to Head-Office, balance sheet reconciliations and commercial support on financial data. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Working within the Finance and Controlling (F&C) Team will include: Being responsible for the posting of manual accounting entries to both the general ledger and the sub ledgers (Accounts Receivables and Payables) for daily and month-end tasks with guidance from the team. Support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts (UKGAAP) for the DTFS legal entity, including being a contact in the statutory audits process and coordinating internal and external audit requirements. Work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer to ensure coordination across all business areas. Supporting the wider F&C team with preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations, ensuring open topics are cleared effectively to minimise the financial exposure to the business arising from open un-cleared / unreconciled items. Support the Transactional Accountant in the submission of the quarterly VAT return. Support the development of DTFSUK systems including Miles e.g. regression testing. Support the wider F&C team with ad-hoc performance analysis, cost/benefit analysis for projects, any financial reporting requirement, Corporate Controlling (TM1 submissions), business modelling for monthly forecasting and RoRAC (Return on Risk Adjusted Capital) calculations. Provide cross functional support to the wider business ensuring adequate accounting input is given to the business. Work as part of a team within the finance department to support the achievement of the team’s goals and objectives, working especially closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and Head of Finance. Provide cover and support to the Transactional Accountant to ensure all critical accounting tasks are adequately covered during holiday periods and during periods of peak workloads. This is just an example of the areas you will be involved with as you work as part of the team to support the achievement of the Finance department’s goals and objectives, ensuring all critical accounting tasks are adequately covered. THAT’S WHY YOU ARE A MATCH You may have all/some of these skills: Qualified accountant or currently studying for professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA). Good understanding of Internal Controls, audit requirements, reporting standards, (IFRS, UK GAAP). Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and data warehouse skills. Outgoing personality to communicate, present effectively and diplomatically with senior management. Excellent attention to detail, highly analytical and proactive investigation skills. Proactive attitude, willing to take ownership of problems and resolve them to a satisfactory conclusion within pre-determined timeframes.
