About our Team

As a Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) Lead Engineer, you will help optimize our cloud financial operations by working closely with Engineering Leadership, Finance, and individual Engineering teams to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance.

About the Role

This multifaceted position requires a good blend of technical understanding, financial acumen, and strategic thinking. You will be an advocate for FinOps cloud best practices and will be a subject matter expert in cloud financials.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with engineering teams to analyze cloud usage patterns, identify cost drivers, and implement strategies to optimize expenses. Developing and enforcing financial governance policies and procedures to maintain budget adherence and cost control. Mentoring and coaching engineering teams to help foster a culture of cost awareness and accountability. Assisting in the development of accurate and comprehensive financial forecasts and budgets for engineering projects. Providing regular updates on actual spending versus budgeted amounts, offering insights into any discrepancies. Evaluating & managing FinOps tools (e.g., CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer/CID) to automate cost management processes, streamline reporting, and enhance visibility.

Requirements

Prior experience with cloud cost management and demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with hands-on experience. Experience with cloud demand forecasting, cost optimization, capacity planning, cloud utilization, spend modeling, and cost savings strategy development. Proficient working understanding of AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud computing platform and its pricing dynamics. Good understanding of application development environments, databases, data management, and infrastructure capabilities and constraints. Working experience with AWS tagging benefits and limitations. Experience with Python or similar automation/scripting languages. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and outstanding customer service abilities.
