Fire Engineer required to join a built environment consultancy, in either their Birmingham, London or Manchester office. The role will include predominantly regional travel, with some wider travel and offers hybrid working arrangements.

The fire consultancy team operates across all stages of the building lifecycle, from design through to in-occupation services.

Duties include:

Compiling fire strategy reports and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the design process. Assisting clients with meeting requirements under relevant legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022, relevant secondary legislation, the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended) and the Fire Safety Order (as amended). Conducting fire risk analysis and providing guidance on appropriate control measures. Supporting internal design teams as part of multi-disciplinary projects. Addressing various fire safety challenges and issues across a diverse range of buildings and sectors. Maintaining regular communication with the Client's team to coordinate inspection programmes and remedial works. Gathering on-site particulars, documenting required schedules of works, preparing specifications, obtaining estimates, planning work schedules and monitoring on-site progress whilst ensuring compliance with specifications. Applying a practical and systematic approach to problem solving, adhering to fixed budgets and working within tight deadlines. Offering advice with applications for Building Regulations Approval on Fire Related matters.

Qualifications:

Fire safety or fire risk engineering degree is essential. You will hold membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers and will have achieved or be working towards professional registration with the Engineering Council. You must be fully conversant with current fire safety legislation including the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and technical standards as well as a full understanding of current fire safety issues, trends and best practice.
