Job Description - Fire, Explosion and Forensic Engineer FWG Forensics currently has a vacancy for a fire, explosion and forensic engineer. The position would be ideally suited to somebody with an electrical / mechanical / fire engineering background and associated academic qualifications. A hands-on trade background would be an added advantage but is not necessary. Postgraduate experience would also be a distinct advantage. About the role The role of a forensic investigator is incredibly interesting and extremely variable. You could be excavating a fire damaged factory one day and the following day be in a meeting with senior council discussing your findings on another case. The ability to adapt to a changing environment and deal effectively with people is an important aspect of the work. The position typically involves examining and documenting fire and water damaged buildings and subsequently writing reports to clients. Mentoring and on-the-job training will be provided. No past experience is required in forensic investigations. This is a full-time position. Generally, the work will involve 40% of the time based on site all across Ireland and possibly further afield. The remainder of the time will be spent in our offices in Rathnew, Co Wicklow. For additional details about the work and our clients please see our website: www.fwgforensics.com Key responsibilities Origin and cause investigations Attending scenes: written and photographic recording of the scene: witness statements; securing of evidence etc Reviewing building regulations, BS and other relevant standards, manufacturers’ installation guidelines, good working practices etc Fault diagnoses and complex problem solving Internet research on product recalls related to equipment. appliances or individual components The successful candidate will: have an electrical / mechanical / fire engineering background and associated academic qualifications have an observant and inquisitive mind be comfortable excavating a fire- or water-damaged building or structure be comfortable in a corporate/office environment have the ability to adapt to a changing environment have the ability to deal with people effectively and ensure relevant information is gathered have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written be familiar with Microsoft Word have a full driving licence To apply Please send a copy of your CV to: admin@fwgforensics.com.
