Responsibilities:

Taking a lead role across Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering (DSEAR) risk assessments and compliance activities for new and existing submarine manufacturing facilities. Co-ordinating the work programs of team members to meet strategic explosion safety objectives at our site Barrow-In-Furness. Leading the on-going development of the fire safety team across a number of projects for buildings and submarine platforms. Mentoring and developing engineers within the team. Monitoring, recording and reporting against key performance indicators for Explosion Safety through a variety of key stakeholder groups. Developing, producing and maintaining Explosion Safety process documentation and management strategies. Producing and reviewing explosion strategies and risk assessments. Reviewing and supporting commissioning strategies for explosion safety systems. Producing proposals for packages of work. Reviewing engineering documentation (relevant to Explosion Safety). Providing support to regulatory inspections. Chairing explosion safety workshops and working groups. Essential Skills: Experience of working in an explosion safety engineering environment and applying various methods of hazard analysis. DSEAR risk assessment production including hazard identification and analysis (preferably from a high hazard industry). A thorough understanding of Hazardous Area Classification (HAC). Proven track record in implementing business processes to achieve strategic objectives. Passion for safety and open to developing new skills and undertaking further training in explosion risk management. Desirable Skills: COMAH (Safety Case support) experience. Site Asset Protection experience. Fire Safety Engineering experience. Minimum Qualifications: Degree qualified in STEM discipline (or Fire & Explosion Safety Engineering / Risk Management).
