Join our highly committed Regulatory Services team as a Fire Prevention Officer. Working as part of the team, you will be undertaking a range of activities to facilitate compliance with a number of Acts and Council By-Laws including the Fire and Emergency Services Act while meeting the service standards of the Council. Reporting to the Team Leader of Regulatory Services, this position is responsible for performing a wide range of functions to ensure community safety through the provision of regulatory and other services and ensuring Council meets its enforcement obligations. About You To be successful in this role you will have: Working knowledge of legislation and legal processes relevant to the position including the Local Government Act 1999 (SA), Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 (SA), Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016 (SA), Expiation of Offences Act 1996 (SA), Environment and Protection Act 1994 (SA) and Council By-Laws. Qualifications in Local Government regulatory services (or equivalent) and successful completion of the Fire Prevention Officers course conducted by the CFS (or equivalent) combined with substantial experience in a Local Government regulatory environment. Experience in providing excellent customer-focused results and dealing with difficult customers and situations. Proven time management skills including effectively setting priorities and managing multiple priorities. Current Australian C Class Drivers Licence. A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the Council’s requirements will be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
