Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire & Security Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining fire safety systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems, as well as proficiency in the use of hand and power tools. The Engineer will collaborate with various teams to develop effective fire protection solutions tailored to specific project needs. Responsibilities Design and develop fire protection systems, including alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting. Conduct site assessments to evaluate fire risks and recommend appropriate safety measures. Create detailed schematics and system designs using CAD software. Collaborate with architects, builders, and other engineers to integrate fire safety measures into new constructions or renovations. Perform inspections and testing of fire safety equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with regulations. Provide technical support during the installation of fire protection systems. Maintain accurate documentation of designs, inspections, and maintenance activities. Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and best practices related to fire safety engineering. Requirements Proven experience in fire engineering or a related field is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to work with hand tools and power tools effectively. Proficiency in CAD software for creating detailed designs and schematics. Solid understanding of electrical systems as they relate to fire safety equipment. Ability to design complex systems that meet regulatory requirements while addressing client needs. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders. A proactive approach to learning about new technologies and methods in fire engineering.
