We have an excellent opportunity for a Firewall Engineer to join an existing Firewall Operation Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Checkpoint Firewall, Fortinet, and a passion for ensuring the security and efficiency of network infrastructures. Start Date:

Sheffield or Birmingham – hybrid working Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive testing on various network and security devices including Checkpoint Firewall, Fortinet. Develop and execute test plans to evaluate the performance, reliability, and security of network connectivity solutions. Simulate network traffic and security breach scenarios to assess device responses and system integrity. Collaborate with development teams to identify system requirements and integrate security measures. Document test procedures, results, and recommendations for system enhancements. Stay up-to-date with the latest threats and security best practices to ensure defences are robust. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for connectivity and security-related issues. Skills and Experience:

Extensive experience in a network security or connectivity testing role. Proficiency with Checkpoint Firewall. Technical knowledge in networking (Cisco and non-Cisco) with an emphasis on software-defined networks. Extensive experience as a data network and security specialist in a large enterprise network. Proficient hands-on experience networking background (Subnetting, Switching, Routing, VLANs, VRFs, Firewalls, VPNs…etc). Knowledge of setting up and managing modern configuration management, infrastructure as code tools, CI/CD tools. Strong understanding of network protocols, security standards, and testing methodologies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
