Fish Farm Tutor with Technician Responsibility

An opportunity has become available to join Ruskin Mill College, Ruskin Mill Trust, as part of the committed team focusing on the holistic needs of the students. We are looking for people with great character and a desire to make a positive impact on young people’s lives, providing support and guidance to help them engage in timetabled sessions in a safe and appropriate way. We are seeking to appoint a Fish Farm Tutor to offer specific and specialist educational support in the delivery of a therapeutic education program to students using methods in line with the Trust’s principles. The post holder will be expected to embrace, articulate, and work with the Trust’s objectives, vision, values, purpose, and method, ensuring that the Trust’s paradigm of biodynamic agriculture, Anthroposophical medicine, and practical skills education, informed by Steiner Education, is maintained, implemented, and integrated. Main Duties: To work closely with the Fish Farm Manager in sessions to progress students towards their short, medium, and long-term outcomes. To assist and stand in at times for the Fish Farm Manager to manage the day-to-day running of the fish farm and fish processing and to create an appropriate learning environment to support the learning and development needs of individual students as well as groups of students. To be responsible for delivering teaching and training with a therapeutic and supportive approach, linking students' learning activities through the methodology of the Trust, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education. To communicate consistently and effectively with all relevant teams throughout the provision to contribute to each student’s study programme, curriculum, and progression towards outcomes. To ensure that session planning and the development of schemes of work (SOWs) embed the interconnectedness of their craft within the provision as well as the social enterprise. To take an active role in maintaining, improving, and understanding the Fish Farm biodynamic organism including the flow forms and our fish farming methods. To instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process to increase self-esteem and enhance engagement in learning.
