As the Fixed Asset Accountant, you'll play an important role in managing and analysing financial information related to fixed assets, intangible assets, and work in progress. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient control, management, and reporting of assets, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards. Key responsibilities include: Manage and oversee fixed asset movements, including depreciation, disposal, acquisition, and impairment testing. Prepare and post monthly depreciation journals to maintain accurate financial records. Lead the preparation and review of monthly reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Take charge of the asset revaluation programme, ensuring timely and accurate valuations. Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Plan, Annual Report, and Long-Term Plan, providing critical information and analysis to support decision-making. Work closely with external auditors to ensure proper reporting of fixed assets and work in progress balances. Assist in the development and improvement of Council policies surrounding asset management. Provide valuable insights and reporting to senior leaders, including the Council and Executive Leadership Team (ELT). About you:

To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong background in accounting and a solid understanding of fixed asset management principles. A customer-focused, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail. You'll be a team player who enjoys collaborating across teams and the wider business. You will also have: 5+ years of accounting experience in a large, multidisciplinary organisation. The ability to establish yourself as a trusted advisor and influence key decision-makers. Demonstrated success in leading change initiatives and driving organisational improvements. Strong stakeholder management skills with experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information to diverse audiences. High organisational skills, be detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial data. What we can offer:
