Fleet Technical Manager (Bulk)

– Permanent – SW London – £80k plus benefits This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established shipping company based South West of London. The role is primarily office-based with infrequent travel to visit vessels worldwide as/when required. Reporting to the Technical Director, the Fleet Technical Manager will be responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and compliance of the fleet. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to optimize the performance and maintenance of the vessels. Responsibilities include:

Oversee daily technical activities and maintenance relating to a fleet of bulk carriers ensuring safe, reliable & cost-effective operations. Ensure that all vessels are operated and maintained according to international maritime safety standards and regulations. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including Vetting, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and flag state requirements. Develop and manage the technical budget for fleet operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions for vessel repairs, maintenance, and upgrades. Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of technical superintendents & engineers. Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field (desirable). Strong understanding of ship classification societies, flag state requirements, and international maritime conventions. Ability to manage and lead a multidisciplinary team effectively. Commitment to environmental compliance and an interest in enhancing vessels’ efficiency. Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and a commitment to enhancing safety and welfare. Experience working for a Classification Society (Highly desirable). Experience in ISM/ISPS/MLC Auditing as well as Rightship Vetting / MER / FMG / BHP etc. Must have the right to work in the UK to apply.
