Required skills, qualifications and experience

Proven experience in flight simulation or experience in a related field. Excellent IT / computing skills (Software & Hardware).

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity based at our customer site RAF Valley for a Flight Simulator Engineer. You will work on ground-based training equipment at RAF Valley on the basic flying training squadrons. You will work on preparing the simulators for use each day, preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification, installation of upgrades and modifications, liaising with the customer.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Conduct thorough system checks, diagnostics, calibration, and testing to maintain accurate simulation performance and compliance with regulatory standards.

Collaborate with engineering, software development, and other cross-functional teams to implement upgrades, enhancements, and new features into the simulator systems.

Carry out troubleshooting efforts, utilizing a systematic approach to diagnose and address complex technical issues related to hardware, software, avionics, electronics, and mechanics.

Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs, upgrades, and documentation related to maintenance procedures and processes.

Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and operational activities, liaising with regulatory bodies as necessary.

Provide technical support and guidance to instructors, trainees, and staff members regarding simulator systems, maintenance practices, and operational procedures.

Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and regulations in the flight simulation industry, applying relevant knowledge to enhance maintenance practices.

Collaborate with procurement to manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance and repairs.
