options available At SSE Thermal, we’re leading the way in achieving net zero targets during an exciting period of industry growth. In this pivotal role, you’ll be involved in the financial planning and analysis for our Thermal business, working closely with our Senior FP&A Finance Manager and Joint Venture partners. You’ll primarily be responsible for long-term financial planning and reporting of the operational Joint Ventures and will contribute to critical conversations about plant performance and long-term business plans. This is a dynamic and supportive environment where you’ll gain exposure to senior leaders, influence decisions, and build relationships with a range of stakeholders – all while enjoying a team culture that champions collaboration, development, and success. This is a varied and challenging role, and the key responsibilities include: Financial modelling of long-term forecasts for our Joint Venture companies, including the provision of financial insight and challenge, communicating the forecasts to key business stakeholders. Partnering with teams across the business to ensure financial plans align with performance goals. Conducting monthly variance analysis and preparing accurate, rolling forecasts. Providing insightful financial analysis to support effective decision making. Driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial planning. What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have/be: A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) A strong commercial mindset, and a genuine interest in working in the energy sector. The ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and deliver exceptional results. A proactive mindset with the initiative to develop and improve financial models. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
