Company Overview: We have developed the world’s first Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU). Our OTPUs are custom-designed AI accelerators, optimized for training and inference of large AI models. We already have working prototypes and are now looking to scale the business as quickly as possible. Join us in London to be part of a dynamic team that thrives on innovation and speed.

The Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior / Sta2 / Principal FPGA Engineer to play a critical role in specifying, designing, and building the control and interface functions of the OTPU system. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-speed design (PCIe / ethernet interfaces), interfacing with memory (DDR 3 /4 /5) and other peripherals, precision timing / synchronization as well as signal processing pipelines.

Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize the FPGA hardware. Work closely with software engineers to help them implement the low-level drivers for controlling and configuring hardware peripherals within our OTPU systems. Work closely with hardware engineers to synchronize optical components. Ensure a smooth integration of hardware and software elements. Implement real-time control algorithms to manage the timing and operation of optical devices and their communication with the system. Optimize the FPGA design over time to enhance system performance and reliability. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of the FPGA to ensure seamless operation under demanding conditions. Debug complex hardware-software interactions and resolve performance bottlenecks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, optical, and software engineers, to refine and advance OTPU technology. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering best practices in FPGA development. Stay current with advancements in embedded systems and FPGA programming.

Skills & Experience: 5+ years of experience in FPGA, with a strong focus (>3 years) on high-speed interfaces and signal processing in FPGAs. Deep understanding of embedded system architectures. Extensive experience in synchronizing complex hardware components and optimizing real-time system performance. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug hardware-software interactions effectively. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Compensation and Benefits: • Competitive salary ranging from £160k+, depending on experience. • Stock options in the company. • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision insurance. • 25 days PTO policy plus bank holidays. • Opportunity to work with a cutting-edge technology company in the heart of London.

If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in AI and thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. Apply now to join and be a key player in shaping the future of computing.
