Overview: A leading main contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of residential schemes in London. The role involves managing costs, contracts, and budgets across two to three projects, ensuring financial efficiency and profitability. A temp-to-perm arrangement can be considered for candidates interested in a longer-term position.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage project costs from inception to completion.

* Prepare, evaluate, and manage budgets and cash flows.

* Handle procurement and tender processes for subcontractors and suppliers.

* Assess and manage variations and change orders.

* Conduct regular cost reporting and forecasting.

* Ensure adherence to contractual and legal standards.

* Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.

Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in residential construction.

* Strong understanding of JCT contracts and relevant UK building regulations.

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

* Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Excel, CostX, or similar).

* Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Terms:

* Contract Type: Freelance with the option to transition to a permanent role.

* Rate: Competitive, based on experience.

* Duration: Initially project-based with potential for extension or permanent placement
