VACANCY - STATIC BAND 6 PHYSIOTHERAPIST - FRONT DOOR THERAPY

We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist who has wide-ranging clinical experience, good communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient-centred care to join our Front Door Therapy team. As a senior band 6 physiotherapist, you will provide and develop a high standard of physiotherapy services in the Frailty and Front Door specialty, where you can build upon your clinical and managerial skills with support from the team lead. We provide an 8 am till 8 pm service, 7 days a week. You will be required to work closely in an integrated manner with other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to promote independence, provide rapid assessments, and facilitate safe, timely, and appropriate discharges across the Emergency departments, medical assessment units, and any other admission unit within Pilgrim Hospital. You will contribute to the overall service development of the team and specialty, working with senior team members, professional leads, Head of Therapies, and manage and supervise the development of staff members within the team.

Main duties of the job To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies using acquired clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills, and knowledge of treatment skills. To take delegated responsibility from the band 7 therapist for managing patients with complex conditions and be responsible for providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment plans for patients with these conditions. Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent, and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. Evaluate patient progress, reassess, and alter treatment programmes if required. To manage clinical risk within own patient case load. To comply with the Trust Manual Handling Policy and local therapeutic handling guidance at all times. To deal sensitively with patients who have high levels of anxiety and aggression caused by pain, dementia, or limited mobility. To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards of practice. To be aware of departmental/hospital policies and procedures.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy State registration Evidence of maintained CPD in a portfolio including attendance at relevant postgraduate courses

Desirable Membership of the CSP Involvement in a special interest group

Experience Essential Experience as a Physiotherapist in a variety of clinical areas including surgical, stroke/neurology/medicine, and frailty Experience of working as part of a team/MDT Good theoretical knowledge with working knowledge of a broad range of conditions Student or assistant supervision, contributing to education

Desirable Knowledge of the workings of the community services and intermediate care services Involvement in audit, research, and understanding quality issues

Skills Essential Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role Understanding clinical governance & its implications for the service Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written skills along with clear logical presentation skills Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team Ability to organise, delegate, and prioritise in a timely and effective manner Ability to cope with working in a moderately demanding environment with aggressive and emotional people

Desirable Competent IT skills Evidence of participation in audits Ability to organise and run internal courses Supervision of other staff Committee membership e.g. safety committee.
