Job Description

We are searching for a dedicated and passionate frontend focused Software Engineer to build, enhance and maintain Sage products and systems. This position demands a high level of output, but is also a great opportunity for growth and collaboration. In this role, you will assume ownership of the design, development, and delivery of high quality software. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves to collaborate with others but can also work independently to take an idea from concept to implementation. You will deliver deep technical expertise to help drive colleague engagement, clarity and instill a culture of innovation and execution.

Please note that this role is hybrid and requires working 3 days a week from either our Newcastle or Winnersh office.

Key Responsibilities:

Successfully develop, deliver, and maintain well designed and well tested code

Work with product managers early on to shape product definition to be flexible, extensible, and robust

Learning the workings of a large complex business application

Apply a broad knowledge of software development patterns

Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting

Work cross-functionally with various Sage teams: product management, QA/XD, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results

Act as a mentor and coach to junior team members

Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software bugs

Maintain relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes where applicable

Be product-minded and think about the customer

Requirements:

3+ years’ prior experience developing a single page application (React, Svelte, Vue.js, Ember.js, etc.)

1+ years’ prior experience with Ember.js strongly preferred

Experience with SCSS, Handlebars, QUnit, Typescript preferred

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience integrating with REST services and JSON APIs

Ability to solve technical problems independently

Motivation to work hard and always be learning

Bonus: Experience working with Ruby or other backend scripting languages (Python, Node, PHP, etc.)
