Full-time, Temporary (6-month contract) Shift Pattern:

7 nights on, 7 nights off (6:30 PM - 8:30 AM, sleeping shift from 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM if no work required)

About the Role We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly, independent, family-run practice on a 6-month temporary contract to cover sick leave. This is an overnight nursing position with responsibilities focused on caring for inpatients and managing emergencies during the night.

Key Responsibilities Inpatient Care: Monitor and treat hospitalised patients, contributing proactively to care plans. Emergency Care: Provide immediate treatment to overnight emergencies. Surgical Preparation: Assist in preparing animals for surgery and maintaining surgical equipment. Diagnostics: Support diagnostic procedures, including X-rays, ultrasound, and endoscopy. Laboratory Work: Run in-house lab tests and prepare samples for external laboratories. Client Communication: Advise pet owners, answer calls, dispense medications, and manage payments when needed. Nurse Clinics: Perform routine nurse consultations. Clinical Area Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas, including regular deep cleaning. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records, controlled drug registers, and radiography exposure logs.

About You We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual with: Qualifications: Registered Veterinary Nurse certification or diploma. Experience: Experience in an out-of-hours setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided. Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor. Passion: A genuine commitment to providing exceptional care to animals and their owners.

Schedule Night shifts: 7 days on, 7 days off (Monday to Sunday).

Requirements RCVS Registration: Preferred. Veterinary Experience: At least 1 year preferred.
