Octopus Energy Generation ️ – Business Operations / Fixed Term Contract / Hybrid

At Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN), we're passionate about powering a sustainable future. As pioneers in the renewable energy space, we don’t just invest in utility-scale projects; we invest in people, communities, and a greener tomorrow.

Since stepping into the renewables arena in 2010, we've made waves—becoming a top investor in onshore wind across mainland Europe, the largest backer of solar power in Europe, and now, we're diving into offshore wind with equal enthusiasm. Today, we proudly manage over £7bn in renewable energy assets worldwide.

Our dynamic portfolio includes over three hundred major energy-generating companies, from wind farms to solar power plants, with exciting new ventures in energy storage and hydrogen on the horizon. As we continue to grow, we're looking for passionate individuals to join our diverse and dedicated team, helping us drive the future of renewable energy forward.

The Fund Operations Senior Manager is a pivotal role within Octopus Energy Generation, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency across all fund operations processes. This includes strategic planning and project management of new fund structures, oversight of existing fund structures, and the management of key relationships with fund administrators, depositaries, and AIFMs. Working closely with the wider Fund Management and Fund Finance teams, this role will ensure that OEGEN’s funds operate seamlessly while meeting regulatory and investor requirements. You will report to the Head of Funds and Sustainability and will have a small number of direct reports.

Whilst we maintain a degree of flexibility, this position requires an average of 3 days in the office per week.

12 month Fixed Term Contract starting in May 2025.

What You'll Do Lead and project-manage the establishment of new funds, ensuring alignment with operational, legal, and regulatory requirements. Oversee all aspects of OEGEN’s fund operation processes. This includes establishing project plans, agreeing timelines with relevant internal and external stakeholders, monitoring, and reporting on milestones, actions, risks, and escalating issues as appropriate. Working with our Compliance function to coordinate product governance processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Review and provide input into legal fund documentation, including Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), AIFM agreements, Investment Management Agreements (IMAs), depositary agreements, and fund administration contracts. Build and maintain relationships with fund administrators, depositaries, and AIFM partners (both internal and external) to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery. Negotiate commercial terms with service providers to secure value-for-money and high-quality services. Manage and conduct service reviews and due diligence processes on fund service providers, ensuring they meet required standards. Respond to and coordinate firm-level due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and onsite diligence reviews from prospective clients with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and comprehensive responses. Coordinate the provision and maintenance of fund-related information and disclosures, ensuring timely and accurate updates for internal and external stakeholders. Provide fund operations support to portfolio funds, including resolving operational challenges and responding to ad hoc requests. Collaborate with Fund Finance, Fund Management, and Legal teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and strong governance. Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments, ensuring OEGEN’s fund operations remain best-in-class and compliant. Take a leadership role in cross-functional projects that impact fund operations, driving innovation and continuous improvement. What You'll Need

Proven experience in fund operations, fund management, or related fields, preferably within renewable energy, private equity, or investment management. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively. Deep understanding of fund structures, AIFMD regulations, and the roles of fund administrators and depositaries. Experience in product governance and compliance frameworks. Demonstrated ability to review and negotiate legal fund documentation and contracts with service providers. Proven track record in managing service provider relationships, including conducting service reviews and due diligence. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering results under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with a track record of working effectively with diverse teams. Self-motivated and aspirational, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Familiarity with renewable energy investments and sustainability considerations is a strong advantage. Experience in driving operational improvements and implementing process efficiencies. Our process usually takes up to 4 weeks, but we’ll always do our best to flex around what works for you. If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.

Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have all the tools and environment you need to unleash your potential. Need any specific accommodations? Whether you require specific accommodations or have a unique preference, let us know, and we'll do what we can to customise your interview process for comfort and maximum magic!

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success.
