The role is for an experienced Fund Research analyst to join an award-winning team. The Fund Research team provide recommendations to support the investment managers within Quilter Cheviot. As a large UK wealth manager with a significant proportion of client assets invested in funds, this is a high profile position.
The team has coverage of investments across traditional equity and fixed income asset classes as well as alternative investments such as hedge funds, absolute return, private equity and property. This includes open-ended UCITS funds, investments trusts, and passives.
This role will take lead responsibility of a number of areas within the equity funds space, with the scope to cover other areas in time. Prior experience of US and/or Japanese equities would be beneficial. You will be conducting high quality in-depth analysis and due diligence to find best-of-breed investment options for our clients. This also includes assessing how ESG factors are being considered within investment decision making. You will also have input into firmwide model allocations.
The role includes responsibility for fund ratings within your space, what is added or removed from the buy list and regular communication on those funds. This includes in-depth written research notes, verbal communication to the firm's investment manager at morning meetings, as well as regular extended presentation to smaller groups of investment managers both in London and our regional offices.

This role will directly impact our investment performance through the selection of investment funds and thus contributes to our roles and responsibilities towards good customer outcomes under consumer duty.
About You
You are a motivated analyst with experience in fund manager research and with good communication skills. It is not a prerequisite to have knowledge of specific equity regions, but a background in equity fund selection is important. The successful candidate will likely be proactive, flexible and collegiate. You will need to have strong decision making skills in regards to key fund picks and willingness to back your recommendations, whether positive or negative.
You will have a strong interest in financial markets. An understanding of how ESG factors are typically incorporated within an investment process would be helpful.
Most members of the team are CFA qualified, although this is not a prerequisite. Having good knowledge of systems and data for fund analysis such as Style Analytics, Morningstar and Factset is also an advantage. The ability to communicate both in written form and through presentations to groups of investment managers is an important part of the role.
You will have the ability to operate with limited oversight whilst ensuring quality output and clear and timely communication of recommendations.
