About the Role We are looking for someone to serve as the first point of contact for residents and visitors regarding the council's garden waste subscription service during the garden waste season, whilst offering customer engagement support to the wider waste and cleansing service. The role includes addressing enquiries, handling complaints, and providing customer support through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person events across the city to assist residents in accessing waste services. The post holder will be part of the council's Waste and Cleansing Service, dedicated to ensuring efficient and customer-friendly waste management across the city. The service focuses on sustainability, community engagement, and improving public satisfaction with waste-related services, mainly garden waste collections. The post holder will also actively promote and support the council's services while contributing to the development and implementation of service improvements. This is a newly created role, established to enhance customer engagement and support the growing demands of the garden waste subscription service, reflecting the council's commitment to providing accessible and efficient waste management solutions for all residents. About You The ideal candidate will have: The ability to problem solve and implement solutions in a focused and positive way. The ability and willingness to make outbound calls to support investigating issues and updating residents. Experience of interrogating multiple systems to fact-find and enable appropriate resolutions to be implemented. The ability to be creative, identifying problems and working to create solutions. Evidence of working successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships. Experience of taking ownership of complex escalated customer enquiries and complaints, managing them calmly and effectively.
