Garment Technologist & Pattern Grader Preston – Office Based Salary dependent upon experience Our client, a well-established manufacturer, retailer & supplier of specialist apparel is now seeking an experienced Garment Technologist / Pattern Grader to join their team in Preston. You will play a key part in the growth of our clients’ design ranges. The ideal candidate will be technically skilled in pattern grading. You will have worked with paper patterns, as well as CAD patterns and will be highly knowledgeable in pattern creation and grading. You will combine your technical skills with your design knowledge to ensure the business continues to push the boundaries and excel within their industry. You will work with the design manager and team and will also collaborate with the on-site factory manager and production team. Key Responsibilities Grading of patterns/creating and adapting blocks Working from customer drawings to create patterns ready for production Converting patterns from old CAD system to new, whilst ensuring grading remains consistent Reworking historical patterns Occasional customer fit sessions Advising customers on garment sizing Assisting the design team where necessary with the creation of customer drawings Assisting the design team with the creation of diamante/spangle designs and grading to size (training will be given) Working at a fast pace to identify future trends and materials Working closely with the factory and factory manager to ensure design samples show creativity whilst retaining a commercial mindset Collaborating with other departments within the business to ensure its smooth running Ensuring designs are fit for function Documenting products using detailed specifications. Required Skills and Qualifications Educated to degree level within a design discipline 3+ years proven experience within a similar role Garment construction knowledge including fit and function CAD pattern software skills Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator/Photoshop skills Good communication skills Strong organisational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple projects simultaneously Adaptive to changing priorities Strong attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Creative thinker Calm under pressure Self-motivated Apply online or for further information please contact one of our specialist consultants quoting reference number: NJR15405
