Full time
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic operational manager to join our MSK & Specialist Surgery division in the role of General Manager. This role is pivotal to lead on the transformation and provision of high quality services for the community we serve.

Working with an engaged team of dedicated healthcare professionals and the Clinical Delivery Group Management team including the Clinical Director, Clinical Leads and Matrons, you will develop the service which delivers best practice whilst maintaining financial performance. You will be responsible for the delivery of safe, efficient and high quality care to our patients as well as progressing the services within a business-focused environment.

You will ideally have healthcare or NHS experience and possess a strong track record of operational delivery, strong financial management knowledge and skills, coupled with effective leadership skills. You will also have the ability to develop strong, productive and collaborative relationships both internally and with key stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the delivery of all performance metrics and KPI (Quality, Operational and Financial) targets, proactively identifying expectations and developing improvement plans with service leaders and clinicians. You will also be involved in business case planning for the division.

You will be an exceptional manager who exhibits a good understanding of operational management. You will have proven skills in sustainable change management, possess the desire to lead the team in delivering national performance standards and be committed to delivering within agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, resource controls and constraints. For an outstanding candidate, we would consider a developmental post.

Working across Colchester and Ipswich sites, this post is Monday to Friday with the expectation to take part in the Senior Manager on-call rota which will require weekend working.

About us

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients' own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals, we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offers a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what's widely regarded as the world's best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.
