to GBP70,000 plus bonus Engineering products & solutions Derby Are you a commercially-minded engineer looking for the opportunity to step-up into a General Manager role? This is a great career development opportunity to join a small, long-established engineering services business. It supplies specialist products and solutions to a wide range of industries including food and drink, chemicals, aerospace, and energy. The company has significant growth potential: it has a loyal customer base which has not been fully developed commercially. Doing more business with existing customers and finding new ones will quickly increase revenue and grow the business. Working closely with the business owner, the General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the workshop. Additionally, you will build relationships with customers and suppliers, manage projects, and coach and mentor the small team of engineers and service staff. I am looking for someone who is qualified in a mechanical engineering related discipline with a good, all-round technical background. Specific product training and technical support will be provided to build on your existing engineering experience. Experience of working in, or supplying, one or more of the key industry sectors mentioned above is important, as is a background of providing specialist technical/engineered solutions in quality-critical environments. Also important is some experience of working in a small business. You will have a hands-on approach and be excited by finding solutions for very demanding, high-profile customers. This isn’t a sales role, but you will be customer-facing and have a commercial outlook, so some relevant experience is necessary. You could come from a variety of roles which might include project management, operations, or a commercial role, as long as you can show the ability to learn quickly, build relationships, make good decisions, and motivate a small team of people. You should be based close to Derby as this is an office-based role, with travel across the UK and Ireland to customers as required.
