Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations, the General Manager is responsible, in conjunction with the Clinical Director, for the safe and effective delivery of all patient services within the obstetric and gynae (O& G) services of the clinical division. This involves achievement of all operational performance targets, including access targets, finance, and the quality of services to patients and improving services towards best practice standards within available income.

Main duties of the job

Have operational and strategic responsibility for pathway management and delivery of performance targets for all specialties (O& G) within their clinical division. This will include waiting list management, cancer standards, workforce and finance. Be responsible for operational flow, capacity and demand management and ensuring pathways are optimised to support performance targets and financial targets including improved patient quality performances.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
