The Health Care Assistant will work under the direction and supervision of the Practice Nurses and/or GPs to provide care for the Practice Population both in the surgery setting and in patients' own homes and care/nursing home settings.
Main duties of the job Clinical Support:
Venepuncture
Patients health checks
BP recordings
Urinalysis
Peak flow measurements
Height and weight measurements
Ear Syringing
ECG recordings
Obtaining blood sugar readings
Collection of specimens as required
Assisting GPs and Practice Nurses with clinical procedures
Chaperoning
Assisting with minor surgery as requested by GPs or Practice Nurses
Care of minor wounds and application of basic dressings
Removal of sutures/clips
Vaccinations under a PSD
Diabetic Healthcare checks within the surgery, patients' own homes and care/nursing homes
Administrative support:
Answering the telephone, receiving and transmitting messages
Form filing
Arrange patients appointments as necessary
Liaise with other health care professionals
Electronic patient record keeping
Stocking of rooms as necessary
Ordering of treatment room equipment and consumables as necessary

Experience of working with a GP clinical system (EMIS)

Salary:
£22,468 to £25,855 a year, dependent on experience.
