Bringing general practices together to work at scale has been a policy priority for some years for a range of reasons, including improving the ability of practices to recruit and retain staff; to manage financial and estates pressures; to provide a wider range of services to patients and to more easily integrate with the wider health and care system. Main Duties of the Job
As a General Practitioner for the Canalside PCN, you will work across 7 practices in the network offering additional appointments for patients. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations, along with occasional home visits. Prescribing to treat patient conditions. Working independently as well as part of a team to increase availability for practice appointments. About Us
A Primary Care Network (PCN) is a group of GP practices based in a local community, typically comprising between 5 to 10 GP practices covering a patient population of 30,000 to 50,000. The Canalside network currently comprises 7 local practices, encouraging collaboration among GP practices to share expertise and resources, and develop closer partnerships with community health providers, hospitals, mental health trusts, community pharmacy, and voluntary organizations. Job Responsibilities
The ARRS funding has created an opportunity for a GP who has qualified within the last 2 years to gain experience working in our supportive and friendly PCN practices in Canalside. You will be required to: Work across 7 practices (7 sites) supporting our practices through ongoing pressures on primary care. Undertake duties governed by the PMS & GMS contract and Objectives of Direct and Local Enhanced Services, including: Face-to-face and telephone consultations. Patient home visits and nursing home visits. Checking and signing repeat prescriptions. Managing administration tasks including queries, patient test results, referral letters (NHS/private), tasks, emails, and other paperwork in a timely manner. Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery as appropriate, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, and making referrals to secondary care or other providers as appropriate. Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients in line with current Practice disease management protocols and wider guidance such as that from NICE. Person Specification
Qualifications
Hold a degree in medicine recognized by the General Medical Council (GMC). Have completed a two-year foundation course in general training for practical experience. Complete specialist training in general medical practice. Complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Experience of working in primary care or general practice.
