THE GIG

Working in a fast-paced team for the Group Financial Controller, the Global Financial Accounting Manager - Balance Sheet will lead a high-performance team who manages the general ledger for all entities within the DM Group including those in EMEA, Americas, APAC and the Holding Companies.

As our Global Financial Accounting Manager, you will be accountable for: Leading and developing a highly motivated team ensuring the team are cross trained in all areas and are highly adaptable; by promoting a positive culture, sharing knowledge, and encouraging collaboration to find solutions and drive process improvement, whilst leading by example across the Transactional Finance team. Ensuring complete and accurate ledgers for all legal entities, with timely reconciliations of all general ledger balance sheet accounts per group and statutory requirements. Serving as the balance sheet accounting expert, focusing on intangibles, tangibles, intercompany transactions, and cash. Building strong relationships with Group Treasury and Retail Operations to manage and flag cash risks. Acting as the key point of contact for half-year and year-end audits, preparing information for external auditors. Completing month-end tasks according to the month-end timetable and checklists. Contributing to the Group Accounting and Group Policies and Procedures Manuals, promoting best practices across the team. Liaising with Group Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Global Supply Chain Finance, EMEA Finance, and Regional Finance/Operations teams in the Americas and APAC, ensuring timely group deadlines. Reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Providing cover and support for the wider finance team, assisting with ad hoc projects, exploring collaboration with Regional Finance/Operations teams, driving centralisation of accounting while identifying efficiency improvements. Put simply, for this role the key things we're looking for are:

ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified. Extensive experience in a similar role within a Finance Department. Microsoft Dynamics (D365), retail, multi-currency, multi-site, foreign language skills and experience of working with subsidiaries located overseas are highly desirable. Good understanding of business structure and the importance of accuracy of nominal ledger postings. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Strong investigatory, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Experience working to tight deadlines within a small team, supporting others within the team wherever possible. A proactive approach to work and a desire to streamline processes to increase productivity across the team. A strong communicator, with the ability to liaise with colleagues in all Regions to ensure that we are complying with the local laws and regulations. WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
