Our Economic Crime team has a key new role as we look to further understand and enhance the outcome of our members and key stakeholders' interactions with our Economic Crime team and the broader Society. This is a 12-month opportunity. The Governance and Control Manager role will look at all aspects of Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering, and Bribery & Corruption through the application of a strong customer approach underpinned by the requirement to deliver fair outcomes and meet all of our regulatory requirements, including Payment Services Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act, Money Laundering Regulations, Bribery Act, and Immigration Act. Through leading the governance assessment and testing within the area, this role will be key in influencing the ongoing enhancements to our economic crime journeys. This role will be responsible for both the ongoing development of the program, which is part of the Society's Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Frameworks, and being the face of Economic Crime to stakeholders outside of the area. It will have responsibility for important stakeholder management at all levels across the Society, including providing Secretariat duties for a range of Economic Crime Risk committees and Working Groups. It will also provide ongoing support across the full range of activities carried out in the Economic Crime Risk & Control team. These include Education & Awareness, Management Information, in addition to a range of Risk & Control activities. As this is a new role, a passion to influence the creation and ongoing continuous improvement of the governance and risk testing, and wider support activities will be vital. For this role, you'll be able to demonstrate a passion for the delivery of customer-centric economic crime decisions that also ensure compliance with our regulatory requirements, as well as being an experienced risk practitioner from an economic crime environment. You should have extensive experience and understanding of the fraud and economic crime investigation process, policies, and procedures including, but not limited to, Education & Awareness, Provision of Management Information, and Governance & Control activities. You'll be able to act as a subject matter expert on the policies, procedures, and best practices used within Economic Crime 1st and 2nd Lines of Defence. To be successful in this role, it's essential you have: Experience within a Risk & Control environment, preferably including economic crime responsibilities, with practical experience of fraud investigations, Economic Crime investigations, and an understanding of Operational Risk frameworks. Evidence of working with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to persuade and influence upwards. Attention to detail with experience of secretariat duties. An ability to interpret complex issues, good communication, and strong decision-making skills. Experience of leading others and the ability to demonstrate proactive coaching and management. Integrity is a must: you'll be reviewing activities from a wide cross-section of departments and will need to show discretion and maintain total confidentiality at all times. Desirable experience needed will be: Experience from a financial services background. Coaching or supporting others. Strong experience in both development and delivery of outcome testing would be beneficial. Change and project management and process improvement experience.
