The RNLI is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, and water safety education and initiatives. The Company Secretary team is made up of three people including this role and provide governance and secretariat support across the organisation and to the Board of Trustees, the RNLI Council and various committees. We are also responsible for organising the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the Annual Report and Accounts. You will be joining the team at an exciting time when the RNLI is reviewing its governance structure and associated arrangements, and this role will have the opportunity to take part in both project and business as usual work. This is a dynamic and rewarding role supporting our Trustees, Committees and the Company Secretary. As our Governance Officer, you will provide support to the Trustees and the Company Secretary by: Undertaking the management, logistics and co-ordination of all aspects of meeting requirements including: Organising dates, venue, accommodation and catering where necessary, communicating the arrangements both internally and externally and coordination of inputs from stakeholders as required. Co-ordinating and sometimes leading with delegated authority projects and significant pieces of work, attending internal meetings and escalating issues and actions as required and responding to demands on the Company Secretary function. Acting as a vital link between the Company Secretary and the Trustees, Council, and advisory committees, ensuring effective two-way communication and facilitating the resolution of problems. Taking minutes, preparing, and circulating Council and committee papers in liaison with the Executive Team (ET) and their staff effectively and in a timely manner. About You

We are looking for an effective Governance Officer with outstanding communication skills. Someone comfortable with technology and with a commitment to delivering first-class service, as you will be working within a fast-moving environment. You will have experience of: Working in a Governance role, or experience of working with trustees and committee members. Leading a support function or proactively providing high-level support at Director level. Managing high profile work with multiple stakeholders. Minute taking. Coordinating and managing a communications or engagement calendar in a complex environment. This is an exciting role that directly supports our Trustees to enable us to save lives.
