Government Finance Business Partner - Submarines

Full time Derby An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Government Finance Business Partner to join Rolls-Royce Submarines. The Government Finance Business Partner role sits within the Government Compliance team, a key part of Submarines Finance, whose responsibilities include optimisation of cost recovery and profit, within the framework set by the Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCRs) in the UK. Based within the Submarines business, the team also supports all areas of Rolls-Royce with Government activity, partnering with the business to provide specialist advice and managing relationships with relevant Government bodies. Why Rolls-Royce? We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority. Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career. This is a high-profile opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark with excellent opportunities for exposure at senior levels. The role offers an unparalleled opportunity to work across the breadth of the entire business and externally with Government bodies, collaborating with varied functional stakeholders. What we offer: We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts. Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week. What you will be doing: You will produce and communicate cost rates, variance analysis and disclosure documents on a regular basis, with the support of the Submarines finance team. Ensure that all statutory supplier reporting required by the SSCRs is submitted on time and to the required quality, supporting the business as necessary. Whilst mainly focusing on the Submarines business, the role also covers support to all other RR businesses as required. Be the Rolls-Royce UK point of contact for stakeholder relationships with external bodies such as UK MOD auditors - Cost Assurance and Analysis Service (CAAS), as well as internal departments and business areas. Work closely with the Commercial teams, including our own SSCR compliance team, understanding the financial impact of the SSCRs on issues such as allowable costs, new contracting, corporate recharges, recoveries etc. What we are looking for: At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: Qualified accountant. Ability to collaborate effectively with people of all levels and disciplines, including leadership of small teams or projects. Working without close supervision using initiative and original thought. Presenting concisely written and oral arguments to senior management. Communicating views, discussing options and negotiating satisfactory agreements with internal stakeholders and senior officials of the company, and representatives of external bodies, e.g. CAAS (MOD auditors), MOD Commercial. Experience of Defence finance or MOD single source environments, as well as competitive contracts and commercial arrangements may be beneficial. We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
