Job overview We are recruiting

TWO

GP's with special interest in Breast Care. This is a substantive post for 4 sessions per week for TWO candidates.

The successful candidates will join a team of two substantive consultants and three middle grade doctors. Training will be provided to support the successful candidates in the new role.

Main duties of the job The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder duties will involve:

Undertaking a medical consultation and examination of the patient.

Assessing the nature of the patient’s condition(s) by requesting and/or undertaking appropriate investigations.

Recommending the initiating treatment(s) for the patient in line with agreed policies and guidelines.

Discharging the patient back to the care of the referring clinician, when appropriate, with advice for ongoing management.

Referring the patient on, when appropriate, for further opinion and/or treatment by a different service.

Maintaining accurate and detailed clinical records for all of the patients under their care in accordance with relevant Data Protection policies and procedures.

To promote good communication to patients, carers and staff, often communicating sensitive information with empathy in relation to patients’ conditions.

To ensure effective communication is maintained and enhanced with primary care and acute sector colleagues.

To participate in monitoring clinical standards, patient pathways and protocols, particularly to ensure the fundamental and essential aspects of patient care are maintained.

To work within own realm of competence at all times and taking opportunities to update skills, knowledge and professional development.

Person specification Skills/Knowledge

GP with broad knowledge of breast disease.

Experience/qualifications

Primary medical qualification (e.g., MBChB)

Work related circumstances

Full registration with the GMC

Residing, or prepared to reside within reasonable access to the Trust Hospitals

Appropriate Home Office status to undertake a career post in the UK
