Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers. Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE. Appropriate follow up of patients. Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes. Participate in clinical audits, learning event analyses and practice meetings. Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions. Prescribe generically whenever appropriate in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice. Work with/provide support for other members of the primary health care team. Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreed/other key performance indicator targets. About us
We have 22 practices across 4 PCNs Blackburn North, East, West and Darwen with a population of c180,000. Our PCNs and practice teams have a positive and supportive working relationship, and this role is an opportunity to enhance PCN services further. Qualifications
Qualified GP with full GMC registration licence to practice, on a performers list Newly Qualified General Practitioner (less than 2 years from qualification). Experience
Experience of working in a GP practice using EMIS. General understanding of the primary care contract. Other
UK Drivers licence. Not previously been substantively employed at a GP Practice. Observance of strict confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to listen and empathise. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Competent time management and organisational skills. Adaptable and forward looking with problem solving and a 'solutions focused' approach. A demonstrable commitment to professional development. Computer literate. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
