NHS Lothian Adults with Complex and Exceptional Needs Service

Exciting opportunities are available to join ACENS (Adults with Complex and Exceptional Needs Service), a Pan Lothian Service caring for patients who require 1:1 intensive care in their own homes across NHS Lothian. We have Band 5 positions available for Registered Nurses and we are looking for passionate, caring, motivated people to join our highly skilled nursing teams. We offer the opportunity to work with talented teams within multidisciplinary environments and impact positively on the lives of thousands of patients and their families. The ACEN service is a highly specialised nurse-led service which is unique within adult healthcare in Lothian. Providing care at home to patients and their families who have exceptional and complex health care needs along with diverse and wide-ranging psychosocial issues. This may include patients who are technology dependent e.g., mechanical ventilation. The care needs of the patient group demand knowledge and skills set which is patient and speciality specific. ACENS staff work as a lone worker but as part of a wider team. Staff have continual access to indirect support. This is a very rewarding post enabling patients to live in their home environment and access the wider community. We are looking for Registered nurses who: Ideally have current experience in a community, respiratory or neurological healthcare environment, although full training will be provided to successful candidates. Are comfortable working on their own in a patient’s home with indirect support from the wider team. Have excellent communication skills. If you are an internal NHS Lothian Band 5 candidate we will not proceed with shortlisting and interview and instead you will move to our internal transfer process.
