TRAINEE CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT – FORENSIC ACCOUNTING, CORPORATE FINANCE AND BUSINESS RECOVERY & INSOLVENCY We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a graduate to join our Forensic Accounting, Corporate Finance and Business Restructuring & Insolvency teams. Sitting across all three departments, the successful candidate will undertake their Chartered Accountancy training whilst gaining experience of these specialist departments. The position will initially be offered on a three-year fixed-term training contract. With continued support and mentoring, we aim to make the transition from university to work life as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Forensic Accounting Henderson Loggie is one of the few independent Scottish accountancy firms with a specialist, full-time, forensic accounting team. You will be working on cases that cover all aspects of civil litigation where expert accounting input is required from contentious share and business valuations to consequential loss claims and investigations into potential frauds or wrongdoing. Corporate Finance In Corporate Finance you will be working in Mergers & Acquisitions (company sales, acquisitions and management buy-outs), preparing financial due diligence reports for fund raising projects and assisting clients in preparing business plans and financial projections. Business Restructuring & Insolvency Our Business Recovery & Insolvency team works with businesses in distress, helping work out what the options are and then implementing those options. This often involves formal insolvency processes. You will develop quick commercial thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. During your training contract you will be: Working across three departments (Forensic Accounting, Corporate Finance and Business Restructuring & Insolvency) Given the opportunity to work directly with partners and heads of departments to gain invaluable and unique experience Working on a variety of types of work for a range of clients, from owner-managed businesses to major family-owned and multinational companies Developing your business advisory skills through our internal training programme and HL Training Academy Covering a variety of tasks, enabling you to grow personally as well as professionally Attending client meetings or preparing reports for presentation to clients and referrers of work Involved in business development, networking, and pitching for new work Working in busy, high-performing teams, constantly learning from those around you as part of your on-the-job training Given study and exam leave to ensure you pass your exams Supported throughout your training contract, both financially and by people who have successfully completed the ICAS qualification What we are looking for: A good level of education and academic ability (Minimum 2:1, any subject) Excellent communication skills - both written and oral A demonstrable interest in business and financial issues A well-developed sense of client service Excellent attention to detail A proactive and analytical approach to problem solving Works well under pressure and rises to a challenge Adaptable and flexible – willing and able to move between departments to meet business needs In addition, you will share our values, be approachable and able to work collaboratively, and demonstrate a desire to contribute to the ongoing success of the firm.
