Suffolk (Wickham Market) About the Role: GCR has a 50-year pedigree for undertaking structural engineering designs and has been serving the construction industry for over 25 years. We have an opening for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our team at our Wickham Market office to undertake designs on a variety of projects, primarily for bespoke, high-end buildings for both the domestic and commercial markets. With a long history of working with older type(s) of buildings, any applicant should have an interest in the consideration of innovative and sympathetic designs. You will be encouraged to develop your design experience and skills and be supported to obtain accreditation to the Institutes of Civil or Structural Engineers. With project costs up to £4m and the use of the latest design software, the role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful projects. GCR is part of the Structural Engineering Alliance Group (SEAG), a collective of esteemed engineering firms, each distinguished in its respective field, united by a shared vision of pioneering progress. Responsibilities: Use the latest design software to create and manage structural designs. Liaise with key clients and discuss design/technical solutions with team members and stakeholders. Ensure projects are appropriately resourced, delegating work to team members, programming deliverables, and monitoring progress. Prepare calculations, drawings, details, specifications, and reports for a wide range of structures and materials. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent (Masters degree preferred). Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment. Use of industry design standards, i.e. DMRB; Manual for Streets; NJUG, SSG etc. Problem solver, able to offer solutions to challenges. Able to work and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Eagerness to learn and develop your skills and career with training support. Good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage workload. A good knowledge of the CDM regulations in addition to British standards and EU regulations. Excellent spoken and written English. Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the UK. Eligibility to live and work in the UK and be able to demonstrate proof when requested.
