Job Title:

Fundraising Officer

Responsible to:

General Manager

Job Purpose:

To raise funds through grant applications and community fundraising activities for YMCA Taunton.

Job Type:

Part-time

Main Responsibilities:

Create and implement a fundraising strategy, supporting the staff team and trustees to raise funds to support and increase the charity’s work.

Raise funds from a range of sources including researching, identifying and writing bids for grant applications, organising fundraising activities and sponsorship.

Develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers and groups.

Devise, implement and evaluate an annual fundraising Strategic Plan to income targets and return on investment.

Attend fundraising and other events as required.

Develop and nurture relationships with volunteer fundraisers and co-ordinate their activities.

Supervise volunteers as required – this may include input into volunteer recruitment and training.

Develop and nurture relationships with potential funders and fundraisers e.g. local trusts, businesses, community groups, sports clubs, schools etc.

Ensure the health and safety of participants and volunteers at YMCA Taunton fundraising events and activities.

Work closely with the Marketing Officer to build awareness of the benefits of fundraising for YMCA Taunton and the people we help.

Contribute to the creation of fundraising materials.

Monitor, evaluate and identify learning points from each area of activity.

Write evaluation reports, assist in publishing appropriate details and acknowledge donations appropriately.

Be committed to safeguarding principles and be willing to put the welfare of children and young people at the forefront of your work and to report concerns in accordance with YMCA Taunton’s referral arrangements.

Education:

Good general education including Maths and English at level 2 or equivalent.

IT – fully conversant with Microsoft Office and Media applications.

Ideally supported by fundraising qualifications/memberships.

Prior Experience:

Working within a community fundraising or similar role.

Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Using digital platforms/Social Media/CRM systems to build and engage networks and communities.

Experience in creating and managing fundraising activities.

Can demonstrate past experience in achieving financial targets, managing budgets and producing accurate, timely and concise reports.

Excellent communication, influencing and persuading skills both oral and written.

The ability to deliver presentations and pitch for support articulating information in a persuasive manner.

Ability to work well under pressure to a high standard with an ever-changing workload.

Problem Solving:

Strong planning, organisation and time management skills and the ability to produce high quality work first time.

A ‘can do’ and flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, including a willingness to travel and work irregular hours when necessary.

Integrity:

Absolute discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.

The role is based in the Taunton offices and involves liaising with other agencies/schools/colleges/services to promote the Charity, attract and engage with potential work and revenue streams within the local community, so a driving licence and the ability to travel locally would be advantageous.
