Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to maintain budget compliance. Conduct regular financial assessments and provide reports on project costs to stakeholders. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure alignment on project specifications and budgets. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best prices for materials and services. Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids from contractors. Manage variations in contracts, ensuring that all changes are documented and accounted for. Provide advice on procurement strategies to optimise project delivery while controlling costs.
Skills
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, particularly in cost control. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and tools for cost estimation and project management. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong organisational skills. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations relevant to the industry. A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred, along with relevant professional qualifications or memberships.
