Elevation Recruitment Group are currently recruiting a Financial Accountant for a large family-run Construction business based in Derbyshire. They employ over 20 people in finance and this newly created role will add to the team.

It is a great time to join the business, they are in a strong position financially, have a healthy order book and have recently completed a successful acquisition with further ones planned for the future.

As the Financial Accountant, you will be a key part of their Finance team who prepare financial statements, oversee audits, and conduct accounts analysis and reconciliations. You will work with an amazing team, who are key to their success, maintain company/industry standards, and assist with the company’s growth.

Duties of the role will include:

Oversee preparation of financial statements for entities within the Group, ensuring that they incorporate all current requirements of UK GAAP, plus ensuring that the role holder’s technical knowledge is kept up to date for any changes such that these are incorporated where appropriate. Overall responsibility for the year-end external audit, including liaison with the auditors to agree a timetable for each stage of the audit process, overseeing the planning and field work stages and ensuring that the audit is completed, and statutory accounts fully signed in line with the required deadline. Responsibility for compliance with all relevant taxes that the group is subject to. Prepare complex month-end and quarter-end journal entries. Analyse balance sheet variances and provide insightful commentary with appropriate business context. Reconcile intercompany balances. Work collaboratively with other Finance team members, specifically to meet reporting deadlines and improve existing processes. Assist with various financial reporting responsibilities, including Group FD financial reporting packages and annual stand-alone statutory financial statements, and ad-hoc analysis. Assist other team members as needed, including holiday cover. Assist Senior Leaders with confidential financial matters and ad-hoc projects as needed.

To be considered you will ideally have the following skills and experiences:

Sound up to date technical accountancy knowledge and experience of compiling statutory accounts. Fully qualified through a recognised accountancy body (i.e. ACA, ACCA). Strong Excel skills and a passion for working with and analysing data to provide insightful management information. Experience in audits. Experience in corporation tax. Experience in month-end and year-end financial processing. High level of accuracy, organisational skills and ability to work to and achieve by agreed timetable.
