Operating at the forefront of the civil engineering and utilities industry, the organisation is entering an exciting phase of rapid expansion following significant M&A activities and operational growth. The role is ideal for a Senior Associate or experienced Solicitor with expertise in commercial and corporate law, who is looking to transition into an in-house position. The Role This is a standalone position that works closely with senior leadership, where you’ll provide strategic legal advice across the business. Key responsibilities include: Contract Management: Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts, framework agreements, and other legal documents. M&A Support: Offering legal input on mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships to maximise opportunities and minimise risks. Governance & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 and Procurement Act 2023. Strategic Counsel: Advising stakeholders on legal risks, opportunities for improvement, and innovative solutions to strengthen the company’s legal framework. Stakeholder Collaboration: Acting as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and external partners, communicating legal concepts clearly and effectively. About You The role requires a proactive and commercially focused legal professional with the following skills and experience: Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales. PQE: At least 5–7 years of post-qualification experience, ideally at Senior Associate level or equivalent. Commercial Expertise: Strong knowledge of commercial and corporate law, with additional experience in governance, compliance, or regulatory matters. M&A Knowledge: Proven ability to support acquisitions and framework agreements. Pragmatic Problem Solver: Skilled at balancing legal risk with commercial opportunity. Industry Insight: Prior experience in the civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure sectors is advantageous but not essential. Self-Starter: Confident operating independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Why Consider This Role?
