40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Initially 8am to 4.30 then moving to earlies and lates on rotation 6am – 2.30 / 1.30 – 10pm) Our Client is a leading independent packaging manufacturer in the UK with strong green credentials. The company is growing and well invested with further capital projects in progress. They have an exciting opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team and implement strategic maintenance initiatives to support the running of the site, whilst increasing plant and asset reliability. The role has a split of approximately 70% mechanical engineering and 30% electrical/electronic engineering. Some of the regular tasks involve working on the following: Gearboxes, Drive and transfer belts and pulleys, Sensors and safety sensors, PLCs, Gear trains, Shafts, rollers and bearings, Pumps and motors, Gluing and printing systems & Pneumatics. Key Responsibilities: Be accountable for your own and others' health and safety whilst at work, operating in line with safe systems of work and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Support and develop the preventative maintenance strategy, targeting more effective predictive preventive maintenance thereby reducing reactive activities. Take a proactive approach to continually improve housekeeping standards in engineering workshops and around the sites. Meet and exceed set KPIs for safety, quality, and productivity. Ensure contractors are appropriately supervised and comply with contractual commitments and site operating processes. Document and communicate comprehensive maintenance records, including planned and preventative maintenance records and daily engineering reports. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and colleagues to improve team and cross-departmental relations. Ensure work is conducted in accordance with BRCGS accreditation. Support improvements to machine and process safety, quality, and productivity. Key Skills: Experience in planned preventative maintenance is essential. Counterbalance fork truck licence. Minimum BTEC Level 4 HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent. 17th edition in Electrical Installation preferred (training can be provided). Proven experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated good fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office. The successful candidate would have an opportunity to develop into the Group Technical Manager role, which is a position the business is contemplating creating as the company continues to grow.
