Applications are invited to join us in developing our service for our patients in West Wales. We are looking for a highly committed and motivated individual to join our Haematology team as we start to introduce subspecialisation into the health board. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provide a comprehensive haematology service in the four hospitals in an area of outstanding beauty. This post will introduce a Myeloma subspecialty to our team as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board and will continue to develop as part of the wider transformation process. Support for the post includes Associate Specialists, specialty doctors, clinical fellow as well as foundation trainees. The team also includes haematology CNS team and Specialist pharmacists. Our vision is to provide a future proof service for our patients to ensure they can be cared for as close to their home as possible. Main duties of the job

Clinical - The appointee should be able to demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology. The successful candidate will develop this subspecialty across the health board and working alongside the generalist consultants. Inpatients - The appointee will participate in an attending and on-call rota for the Carmarthen site. At the three peripheral sites, the contribution is consultative to the local medical team. Outpatients - The appointee will be expected to participate in 3-4 clinics per week, within Lymphoma and General Haematology. Consideration for other subspecialist workload could be considered, depending on applicant's experience to date. There is a weekly health board wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs. The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The appointee is required to be GMC registered on the specialist register or be expected to obtain CCT within 6 months. The appointee will contribute to all aspects of the general haematology and haemo-oncology work including participation in departmental meetings and on-call rota. 10 Sessions with 2xSPA per week. Clinics in other hospital sites will be required (virtual clinics are an option). The appointee must be someone who can help develop our rural service to ensure excellent patient care, About us

Qualifications

Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due ) within 6 months of interview date Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration MRCP and/or FRCPath or other Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent Clinical Experience

Broad based experience in clinical haematology Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent) Knowledge and participation in CPD Competence in general haematology and experience of being on call Expertise in myeloma treatments and management of malignant disease Able to apply knowledge Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills Knowledge and experience of communicating bad news Meet the requirement of the GMC's "Good Medical Practice" Experience of NHS Wider experience, research and training in providing sub specialty service Evidence of above average performance Membership of the RCP Clinical Governance

Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance Knowledge of risk management Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process Research

Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence so as to improve clinical outcomes Evidence of initiating, progressing and concluding research projects with publication Research Degree Teaching
